Cameroon Youths in Development (CYD)
is a youth-led organization that tackles obstacles preventing individuals and communities from meeting their needs. Our approach to development is holistic and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We root our actions in research, community collaboration, and environmental consciousness.

As young people ourselves, we do not limit our actions to youth alone – we strive to impact everyone in the community. We are changing the old narrative that “young people are the leaders of tomorrow” by leading change today. Instead of complaining about problems, we take action to transform lives and communities.

Our History

The Cameroon Youths in Development was founded by Elvis Ayafor after identifying himself in most of the challenges facing young people and communities in Cameroon, which includes: education, poverty, and lack of development opportunities. In 2019, he was privileged to be part of the cohort of students doing undergraduate program in Communication and Development Studies from the University of Bamenda where he took the opportunity of a rich program needed for community transformation and some of his classmates with like minds to form a team of young people that were eager to use what they learn from the classroom to transform their communities.

Our Programs

MyTalent MySkill MyJob

This initiative aims at identifying talent in young people and skillfully transforming them through training and coaching into jobs. The vision of this initiative is for young people to create jobs for themselves and others and not for job seekers.

Agriculture for Poverty Reduction

We have been working supporting farmers in different communities involved in pig rearing and poultry farming. This initiative also works to support crop production in partnership with the Agric-student Association. Through this partnership, we provide births, piglets, seedlings and continuous education to farmers on poultry farming, pig rearing and crop productivity.

Education for All

This initiative is focused on providing educational materials to underprivileged children in different communities around Cameroon which includes: tuition, books, bags and text books.

CYD Scholarships

These scholarships are provided to outstanding students from form 1 to final year university graduating students who are outstanding especially in science and technological advancement. These scholarships are provided ones a year and in different terms to Cameroonian students studying abroad with intentions to return home and develop their communities

Study Abroad initiatives

This initiative facilitates admission of Cameroonian students who intend to study abroad and also provides immigration counseling based on the laws of the country they intend to study in.
